Analyst consensus
Glossary version 2026-07-12.v1 · reviewed July 12, 2026
The aggregate forecast from multiple covering analysts, usually summarized by the mean or median estimate. It is a benchmark for expectations, not an authoritative company fact.
Analyst consensus combines forecasts from several sell-side analysts for metrics such as revenue, EPS, or a twelve-month price target. The average can hide a wide range of views, so the observation date, contributor count, and dispersion matter. Our reports use consensus as a benchmark and explain large divergences, but independently calculate Fair value rather than copying the consensus target.
