Survivability risk
Glossary version 2026-07-12.v1 · reviewed July 12, 2026
The risk that a company cannot fund operations or meet obligations long enough for the investment thesis to play out. It is assessed from liquidity, cash burn, debt maturities, and access to financing.
Survivability risk asks whether the company can remain financially viable through a plausible adverse period. Analysts examine cash and liquidity, operating cash burn, mandatory payments, debt maturities, covenants, and realistic financing options. Elevated survivability risk is different from ordinary price volatility and can override an otherwise attractive valuation.
