Frequently asked questions

Do these models replace the published per-stock reports?
Our reports combine these valuation methods with company research, evidence and an assessment of business risks. Use the calculators to explore your own assumptions alongside that research.
Why might a method be unable to calculate a value?
A method may need more information or may not fit the business you are valuing. For example, a cash-flow valuation needs a discount rate, and a REIT method needs property and rental-income assumptions. Follow the explanation shown with the result.
Are sensitivities computed by scaling the mid-point?
Each cell recalculates the selected method with a different pair of assumptions. This shows how sensitive your estimate is to changes such as growth or the discount rate.
How do I supply growth as a percent vs a decimal?
Follow the unit shown beside each field. A decimal rate of 0.10 means 10%; a field labelled percent uses 10 for 10%. Check the displayed units before comparing results.
This tool is tied to the same research methodology used in the per-ticker reports. Inputs, scoring rules, and exclusions are documented there. Read the full methodology.
