JNJ Apr 2026 · Hold
Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) is a global healthcare titan operating in two dominant segments: Innovative Medicine and MedTech. Following the 2023 spin-off of its consumer health business (Kenvue), JNJ has transformed into a high-margin, innovation-led powerhouse. The company holds a 'Wide Moat' rating, driven by its massive pharmaceutical patent portfolio and its deeply integrated medical device platforms which benefit from high surgeon switching costs. As a 'Mature Quality Compounder,' JNJ's investment thesis rests on its ability to generate consistent, high-return cash flows across economic cycles. With a $14.7B R&D budget and a fortress balance sheet (Net Debt/EBITDA < 1.0x), JNJ is well-positioned to navigate the upcoming Stelara patent cliff and integrate recent high-growth acquisitions in the cardiovascular space. The current valuation is depressed by a significant 'litigation discount' related to multi-year talc lawsuits. We view the current 17.8x forward P/E as an undervaluation of a business with 21% ROIC and over 60 years of consecutive dividend growth.Historical archived edition · analyzed 2026-04-28
