Corning Incorporated was founded in 1851 and is headquartered in Corning, New York.
A synchronized global recession severely curtails consumer electronics spending and delays 5G/broadband infrastructure rollouts. High fixed costs result in significant margin compression.
Heavy, lumpy reinvestment phases required for new glass generations, followed by prolonged harvesting periods that generate substantial FCF.
Bull cycle
Accelerating broadband/5G infrastructure spend and rising adoption of specialty glass in new device form factors drive structural volume growth and operating leverage.
Bear cycle
Carrier digestion periods and consumer electronics replacements lengthen, leading to severe underutilization of capacity and margin contraction.
